Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.
~ Marc Riboud

Do you want to create meaningful photographs that elicit an emotional response? In this photography course you will learn to see and feel more deeply through spacious attentiveness. Photography is the art of observation. Your ability to see light and its effects in our world will become heightened and your skill as a photographer will increase.

In this series, we will seek to capture the subtle, the beautiful, the dance of light and shadow and the feelings colours give us. We will also explore the presence of shape, line and patterns as well as the insightful gifts shooting reflections can offer us.

Contemplative Photography invites us to slow down, to see and experience the world in a deeper way. It is a meditative art form that involves using our eyes as a portal to our heart and soul. As we increase our ability to “see” we gaze deeply and experience the world as richer, brighter and full of mystery. This mystery continuously invites us to notice God’s presence in the world. We will assume the stance of openness to what is before us, resulting in receiving our images opposed to capturing them.

This course will be done with smart phones, professional 35mm cameras and anything in between.

Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click on the shutter.
~ Ansel Adams
