Academic Support

These academic supports are free to all students. Click the links below to access the booking calendars.

Peer Tutor: one-to-one appointments. Tutors are students who have been successful in their coursework and have been recommended by faculty. They can provide assistance and advice to better understand how to navigate your university experience, how to approach a writing assignment or master difficult course content. Tutors provide a student perspective and can help you to build the academic skills required to be successful at university. Appointments can be booked in 30-minute time slots; please come prepared with your questions and materials. Students can share their questions in advance to allow their mentor to best prepare for their appointment.

Success Seminars: a series of workshops hosted by faculty and staff at StMU on topics that can support your success. Topics include such things as academic writing, research skills, time management, and wellness. Available seminars are updated each semester.

Bookstore

Located in the historic Le Fort Centre, the St. Mary’s University Bookstore provides textbooks and required course materials to students. Visit the bookstore for novelty items, calculators and computer accessories, and a wide selection of St. Mary’s logo and clothing items.

The Bookstore accepts VISA, MasterCard, Amex, debit, and cash and provides gift cards for those wishing to assist students with textbook and merchandise costs.

Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

You can view a list of course textbooks: Book List

We host in-house textbook buybacks three times per year, at the end of August, December and April. A buyback list will be posted on the door to the bookstore as well as on our Instagram page @stmucampusstore to compare your books against and to see how much we can give you for them. Keep in mind there are caps on the amount of a certain book we can buy back, so coming in earlier rather than later to sell your books would be advantageous.

Please be aware that textbooks and course packs are only eligible for return until the add/drop date of each term. All items must be in their original condition (packaging), and CDs and diskettes must remain in sealed envelopes with the returned textbooks. Your sales receipts are required. You will have two weeks from the date of sale to return general merchandise for a refund.
Some items are final sale and not eligible for a return, such as calculators, custom orders, computer disks, lab coats, safety goggles, sale items, molecular kits, writing implements, notepads and accoutrement, headphones and USB sticks.
